Danny Jansen is taking part in this year's PDC
World Darts Championship for the first time. And the barely 20-year-old Dutchman could end up being the surprise there, according to some followers.
Jansen only obtained his Tour Card early this year, but managed to qualify for the World Championship straight away in his first year on the Pro Tour. "He has everything in him to become the hero of the World Championship," said Viaplay commentator
Jacques Nieuwlaat. "When you hear him talk he exudes personality, he is also extremely calm and the pressure all matters little to him."
"Still, it is no guarantee that he will succeed on a big stage as well," warns Nieuwlaat. "He should be able to win his first round against Filipino Paolo Nebrida anyway and then Krzysztof Ratajski will follow. The Pole is not throwing super lately, but still remains a difficult opponent, you don't win easily against him and he is difficult to unsettle. That's a match I'm really looking forward to."
