Niko Springer throws nine-dart finish in double-in double-out format at PDC Next Gen tournament

Niko Springer delivered a magnificent performance during the fourth PDC Next Gen tournament by hitting a nine-dart finish. The fact that the leg had to be started and finished with a double makes his achievement even more special.

The nine-darter came in Springer's quarterfinal against Sascha Stuhlemmer. With the score at 4-3 in Springer's favor, the German started the eighth leg with a 160 score and a 180. Then 'Meenzer Bub' rounded off beautifully with a 161 finish to win the match 5-3.

Nine-darters are special anyway, but with the double-in double-out format, they are even rarer. The most famous tournament with the double-in double-out format is the World Grand Prix. In the 26-year history of that tournament, only three players (Brendan Dolan, James Wade and Robert Thornton) managed to throw a perfect leg at the World Grand Prix.
