Beau Greaves was a relatively dominant winner of the 2023 PDC Women's Series and took the Women's World Matchplay in Blackpool earlier this summer. This success has seen many call for her to try Q-School next January, however Greaves is keen to take her time.
As seen by Greaves decision to turn down the PDC World Darts Championship, instead opting to play at Lakeside in women's World Championship, 'Beau n Arrow' is looking to not rush her possible entrance to the PDC Pro Tour and regular competition against the men.
"No probably not and I don't see why I'd want to," Greaves answers when asked about the potential of Q-School by Darts Now. "I'm good enough to get a through Q-School, I know that. But the pro tours are a different game. The standard on there is hard and I think that's the difference to the Ladies, the standard is not always up to scratch. It's not always great and you do get them poor games, myself included."
"You can't be doing that on the Pro Tour, and I think it'd sort of crucify me in a bad way," Greaves analyses. "So I think for now, I'll just stick to what I'm playing and maybe at some point in the future."
Playing the men will improve her, beating opponents under no pressure will not. Ladies darts wants more money and TV time, to get this you need to take it from the men's game and with the attendances and quality of darts this is not going to happen.
Good girl, Proud of you. One in tbe eye for webster for a start and another "up yours" to the PDC. (Will not bother the manipulating Porter however!) Nice to know THIS lady has an old head on young shoulders. Good luck toher in the future.
Agreed! Miss Greaves will go down as the greatest female player - by far when her career is done. I have lost what little respect I had for the PDC in a matter of months.
There’s an awfully long way to go when your still only 19, who knows how long her career will last. Also who knows how long the WDF will survive. Should it go down the pan where does a womens only side of the game go?
i'm not sure why people keep framing this like beau has chosen the WDF permanently and is in danger of sinking along with the ship. she's literally playing in the grand slam in a few weeks and will be back on the PDC women's tour when it gets going again, she hasn't defected to the enemy. she will have the same decision to make again in 12 months time, and 24 months, and so on. personally i suspect that if she doesn't budge, the PDC probably eventually will.
