Danny Noppert is the latest player to move through to the Quarter-Finals of the
World Grand Prix where he will face Ian White.
This after a 3-0 win from Noppert in an accomplished display from 'The Freeze' who did not suffer from the curse of Van Gerwen in winning the match after beating 'The Green Machine'.
He hit three ton plus checkouts including a 130 checkout, 53% on the doubles and two 180's.
To begin the tie, Van der Voort began with a 15 dart break of throw and produced a 174 followed by a 24 checkout to consolidate that and head towards the opening set.
Noppert got a leg on the board on double six holding throw. A 180 saw Van der Voort towards a finish but Noppert pinned double 12 to level it up and send it the distance where he'd have the throw.
A 134 left 36 for Noppert for the set and after Van der Voort didn't claim 141, 'Noppie' saw it off to take the opening set.
He came out into the second set with a 130 checkout on the bull and it was double ton plus checkouts with a 101 checkout to go 2-0 up.
Van der Voort got one back with an 87 checkout but despite both players hitting 180's. But a 62 checkout saw Noppert make it 2-0.
A 100 checkout with two double 20's saw Noppert lead the third set but the holds continued from there as Van der Voort hit double one.
He handed Van der Voort a break chance though but he couldn't take it and Noppert returned for double 20 and a 2-1 lead.
Van der Voort claimed double 10 to force it into a decider in which Noppert had the throw. He crashed into the wire from 73 on double 11 but he returned for it to claim it.
