Paul Krohne was one of the three German winners at this year's
European Q-School in Kalkar. He managed to secure a Tour Card for the next two years, which means that no fewer than nine German players can be admired on the tour next season.
Krohne had already made his appearance at the PDC Europe Super League a few months earlier. He managed to reach the last sixteen, but lost narrowly to Nico Kurz in that round. "Actually, it was the best preparation I could have had for the Q-School. Then I realized that my level is good enough to beat good players,'' Krohne said in an interview with dartn.de.
Krohne traveled to Q-School feeling good, but did not have too high expectations for himself there. "Of course I had in mind that my level at the moment is very good and I also felt very good. A Tour Card wasn't impossible, but I didn't expect it to actually happen.''
After the PDC Europe Super League, Krohne continued to gain match rhythm in other ways. "I participated in smaller tournaments, even during the week, to get some match training," Krohne states.
Just before the Q-School, another setback did come. ''I was sick for a week, so I couldn't throw darts. But the week before, I was already able to play again for an hour to an hour and a half a day.''
Krohne now has a month to prepare for the Pro Tour. His darts season begins Feb. 12 when the first Players Championship tournament is played in Wigan.
