Russ Bray returned to work as of late after having hip surgery with the PDC referee known as 'The Voice' feeling 'amazing' and back on top form after a three year spell where he took up to 40 tablets a day to control the pain in his hip.
"I've been in pain for four and a half years. I've been taking 30/40 tablets a day over two and a half to three years solely to try and control the pain. Went and had a complete left hip operation, that aching pain had actually gone when I come to from the operation. I feel amazing now, I am on no tablets at all, no painkillers," said Bray to Online Darts.
Mistakes creeping in
For Bray, this affects his job as well with potential mistakes creeping into his calling.
"You're trying to concentrate on the game and that's when you get mistakes. Not making excuses for that but it's something that has certainly affected me over the past three years."
But he is super relieved to have had it done saying it has given him a 'new lease of life'.
"Going and getting it done, it's an absolute new lease of life. I've actually gone an inch taller because my left leg was shorter than the right and what he's done is he's squared all the hips up and squared the leg up."
