Ricardo Pietreczko came back from a 5-1 deficit to eliminate darts icon Peter Wright 6-5 in the second round of the
European Darts Open on Saturday.
'Pikachu' won his first leg at the very beginning of the match before Wright grabbed five in a row. In the first leg, Wright managed to hit just one triple in five turns. ''I was a bit affected by the fact that he (Wright) was not really finding his game. Especially in the first leg, it was extremely noticeable that I could easily win that leg'', Pietreczko explained in the interview afterwards.
A 152 finish in the seventh leg for 2-5 proved to be the starting shot for his comeback. It gave the German ace extra wings. "I thought to myself: the most important thing is not to lose. The 152 finish was out of necessity. Just having fun,'' Pietreczko said.
