Players Championship Order of Merit Update: Michael van Gerwen nears top-10 after second title

Michael van Gerwen has made a small jump on the Players Championship Order of Merit after the 35-year-old from Vlijmen captured his second Players Championship title of the season on Tuesday.
With this title, Van Gerwen earned 15,000 pounds, allowing 'Mighty Mike' to move up from 21st place to 13th albeit it matters most at the moment for Minehead over further accolades.
The rankings are currently led by Chris Dobey, the only player to win three Players Championship tournaments this season. After 27 Players Championships, Dobey stands at 94,500 pounds in prize money.
Stephen Bunting is the first chaser with 86,000 pounds. Bunting has yet to win a floor tournament this year, but did reach five finals. Behind him are Damon Heta, Dave Chisnall, Ryan Searle, Gary Anderson and Luke Littler.
At the end of the season, the top-64 of the Players Championship Order of Merit may compete in the Players Championship Finals in Minehead. Wednesday marks the 28th Players Championship tournament of the season and later this month the final two Players Championships will be completed.
