Michael van Gerwen has seen his rivals in Premier League Darts draw closer again after 'Mighty Mike' suffered another direct defeat in Brighton on Thursday night.

Van Gerwen lost 6-2 in his first match to Rob Cross, who in turn lost to eventual day winner Luke Humphries in the last four. Van Gerwen is still the leader after the sixth round of play with 15 points.

Humphries has largely closed the gap with the Dutchman and is on 12 points after his weekly title. Behind them follow Luke Littler and Rob Cross with both eleven points.

Smith is narrowly outside the spots for the playoffs with 10 points. Nathan Aspinall is currently number six with eight points, while former world champion Gerwyn Price has accumulated only five points. Two-time world champion Peter Wright is still scoreless and is in last place with zero points.
