Price set to face Aspinall in first confirmed semi-final at International Darts Open

Gerwyn Price's grip on the World Number One spot is starting to tighten again after reaching the semi-finals of the International Darts Open in Riesa.

Price was made to work by Danny Noppert but prevailed a 6-4 winner against the Dutchman with a 99 average - who had previously taken out Michael van Gerwen in the previous round.

He needs to claim the title this weekend in order to retain the top spot in the rankings with both European Tour titles heading the way of 'The Iceman' last year.

Next up will be Nathan Aspinall who continued his remarkable run this weekend battling injury to reach the semi-finals.

In doing so, he increased his level and took out James Wade who has been one of the star performers in Riesa.

'The Asp' hit a 102 average with 6/7 on the doubles in a commanding display seeing off 'The Machine' 6-2 and will now get a chance to add a European Tour title on his immediate return to the sport.
