Josh Rock has quickly cemented himself in the world's top spot. But until recently, the reigning junior world champion was still the third Northern Irish player on the PDC Order of Merit.
Meanwhile, Rock did catch up with compatriot Brendan Dolan. Dolan is now 29th, while Rock holds the 27th spot in the world rankings. Daryl Gurney is still above them at spot 26.
Those roles could be reversed after this weekend. With Gurney's defeat in the first round of the Hungarian Darts Trophy against Jose de Sousa, Rock has a prime opportunity to become the top Northern Irishman in the PDC rankings.
Should Rock win over Mike de Decker in the second round Saturday afternoon, Rock will pass Gurney and become the new highest-ranked Northern Irish darter in the world rankings.
