The World Matchplay gets under way on Saturday 15 July at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. Josh Rock will make his debut there.
Rock currently leads the Pro Tour Order of Merit and is therefore automatically qualified for the World Matchplay. The 22-year-old Northern Irishman thus becomes the third player from his country to ever participate in this major after Brendan Dolan and Daryl Gurney.
Dolan and Gurney, incidentally, can also still qualify for this year's edition. The placing list closes on 9 July and Gurney is currently 11th on the Pro Tour Order of Merit, Dolan 16th. The top-16 are guaranteed a starting ticket in Blackpool.
