We will get an first time major finalist come what may at the
European Championship Darts with
Ritchie Edhouse continuing to break new ground in the best year of his life thus far.
He has thrashed
Gary Anderson 10-5 to set up an all 'House' semi-final against fellow first time semi-finalist, Luke Woodhouse. He saw off Dirk van Duijvenbode earlier this afternoon. The cork in the bottle also remains a certain Luke Humphries who aside from Danny Noppert is the only major champion left and if he falls could spell a very interesting winner on Sunday night indeed.
He ran into an early lead against Anderson opening up a three leg cushion on the great Scot as he hit a 110.5 average and 4/6 on the doubles. He sat at 4-1 up as Anderson wasn't doing much wrong.
But he still sat three legs down with nine 180's between them in five legs. Edhouse continued to streak ahead though. He broke and held for 6-1 with a 50 checkout. Edhouse hit a 56 checkout and Anderson hit a 104 checkout to stay in it at 7-3 down. But it was a session that perhaps could spell the end for Anderson who was looking to break to revive his comeback.
Anderson went straight for double 19 to attempt to break and caught the dart into double three as Edhouse hit a nice open double two for 8-3. He produced more magic. He hit a 164 using two treble 19's and bull for 9-3 and was suddenly throwing for the win.
He had 44 with Anderson having 121 missed to stay in it. Edhouse took aim but missed two for it on double 16. Anderson hit back on double 20 for 9-4. Anderson was under major pressure but hit 44 for a 14-dart leg hold at 9-5.
A 180 and 177 left 86 for Edhouse. He missed double four for another match dart as Anderson had to pressure and hope and Edhouse hit double two for the win.
