The Belgian Darts Open 2025 is in full swing, and a series of exciting second-round matches are scheduled for Saturday afternoon in Wieze. The winners of this round will advance to the final day of this Euro Tour tournament.
With some absolute top players and promising match-ups, it promises to be a spectacle. We take a look at the duels of this afternoon session. Follow the Belgian Darts Open 2025 via our LIVE SCORE!
Danny Noppert v Daryl Gurney
Dutchman Danny Noppert has proven to be a stable factor in the PDC in recent years, with his trademark calm game and deadly finishes. He takes on Northern Irishman Daryl Gurney, who is looking for renewed success on the big stage. 'Superchin' made a strong impression at his start of the tournament on Friday afternoon. With an average of 106, he defeated Thibault Tricole 6-1. Gurney can put pressure on Noppert with his scoring ability, but if the Frisian manages to find his doubles, he has an excellent chance to advance.
Gary Anderson v Luke Woodhouse
Two-time world champion Gary Anderson remains a crowd favorite and will try to let his experience speak for itself against English outsider Luke Woodhouse. Anderson can still shine with his flowing throw and high scores, but Woodhouse has shown in the past that he can surprise big names. A match in which consistency will be the key.
Dave Chisnall v Ricardo Pietreczko
Dave Chisnall is still searching for form this season, as overly successful his start to this year has not been. 'Chizzy' does appear on a stage he has fond memories of, as he won the first edition of the Belgian Darts Open in 2022. It was one of five Euro Tour tournaments he won in the past two seasons. Ricardo Pietreczko himself won one such Euro Tour tournament in October 2023 and has already regularly shown his ability to beat the big names on the Euro Tour stage.
Jonny Clayton v Wessel Nijman
Welshman Jonny Clayton, former Premier League champion, takes on young Dutchman Wessel Nijman. Clayton has started 2025 in an ironclad fashion with a final place at the Masters and a semi-final place at the UK Open. 'The Ferret' will hope to carry this form through to the Euro Tours. Nijman will have a great opportunity to compete with one of the best players in the world and will want to prove himself as a formidable opponent. Then Nijman will have to play a little better than in his first match. For Nijman did not make a very good impression in his duel against Francois Schweyen (6-5).
Rob Cross v Ross Smith
An enthralling clash between former world champion Rob Cross and European Championship winner Ross Smith. Both have strong scoring power and can throw high averages. This duel could easily become a thriller, with small details such as timing and so-called big-man finishes being the deciding factors. Smith already has one match behind him: 'Smudger' scored a hard-fought 6-5 victory over Sybren Gijbels in the first round on Friday night.
Damon Heta v Michael Smith
Another top affair in the second round. Michael Smith faces another dangerous outsider after his narrow 6-5 victory over Ryan Joyce. Damon Heta did disappoint somewhat on the Euro Tour last year. After four quarterfinals and four semifinals in 2023, the counter stuck at just two quarterfinals and one semifinal in 2024. That's actually too little for a darter who is seventh in the world rankings.
Stephen Bunting v Jermaine Wattimena
This promises to be a quick game. It will be especially interesting to see where Stephen Bunting stands after he lost all of his first five Premier League Darts matches. Has his self-confidence taken a hit, or can Bunting actually refuel confidence on the Euro Tour? With Jermaine Wattimena, 'The Bullet' does meet a player who has been in good form for months. The Machine Gun' has already shown his form and good results this season, as he reached three quarter finals on the Pro Tour in 2025.
Nathan Aspinall v Ritchie Edhouse
In a high profile match, reigning European Championship winner Ritchie Edhouse won 6-4 over Owen Bates in the first round on Friday afternoon. It sets up a meeting for 'The Madhouse' with Premier League topper Nathan Aspinall, who enters from the second round. Meanwhile, 'The Asp' is ready for another good result at a Euro Tour tournament. In 2024, the two-time major winner only managed to reach the last eight of a Euro Tour event once.
The tournament will be broadcast by PDC TV. As usual with Euro Tour tournaments, the Belgian Darts Open consists of three tournament days. The afternoon sessions start daily at 1 p.m., while the evening sessions start at 7 p.m.
The first round will take place on Friday, where the 16 Pro Tour players will face 16 players who emerged from the various qualifying tournaments. The winners of these matches will face a player from the top-16 of the world rankings in the second round on Saturday. The third round will be played on Sunday afternoon, before the quarterfinals, semifinals and final are completed on Sunday evening.
All participants starting from the first round are guaranteed £1250 in prize money, while the top-16 enter from the second round and receive £2,500 anyway. This amount eventually rises to the grand prize of £30,000 for the winner.
An important detail is that players who are automatically seeded via the Order of Merit and lose their first match will not be awarded prize money on the various rankings. This does apply to qualifiers who are later designated as seeded by the withdrawal of others.
