Schmutzler seals back-to-back PDC European Development Tour titles, edges closer to World Darts Championship debut

Fabian Schmutzler has edged closer towards sealing his PDC World Darts Championship debut with back-to-back Development Tour titles with only one event remaining in Niedernhausen.

Schmutzler would be the second youngest as of the opening day of the 2021/22 edition to make his debut in the event with Mitchell Clegg when he debuted the only player who was younger by 19 days.

He defeated Adam Gawlas 5-2 in the final after seeing off Tomas Houdek who dealt overall winner Rusty-Jake Rodriguez an opening round exit. As well as Gijsbert van Malsen (5-0), Justin Paul (4-0), Kevin Doets (4-2), Jeroen Mioch (4-1) and Henrik Ettrup (4-0).

Now he sits on £5,500 with Geert Nentjes likely needing to win to displace him with the same being the case for Niels Zonneveld and Sebastian Bialecki.
