Smith looking to bounce back from Dublin disappointment in Leicester: 'I'm looking forward to getting back on stage and putting the World Grand Prix behind me'

Smith also shunned the 'Group of Death' phrase used in some cases for this year saying that you're in the top eight for a reason so you can't complain at all.

'I'm looking forward to getting back on stage and putting the World Grand Prix behind me," said Smith to LiveDarts.

'It might be the Group of Death but you're in the top eight for a reason so you can't moan about who's group you are in and who beats who.'

On facing his good friend Gary Anderson first of all, Smith said that it's all about getting the points on the board: 'I hate losing so get the points on the board and hopefully go up there and get a healthy plus legs lead and we'll see.'

Smith also discussed the format and said he likes it but doesn't like the aspect that you can lose multiple games and still be involved and said that from his perspective darts is a knockout game.

'I'm a fan of it but the fact I've made a semi-final but I've won two lost one. Any other tournament you lose one and you're out. It's good in a sense but darts is a knockout game; it's hard like with the Grand Slam to think you've lost but you're still going.'

'I think in this one as well as the Grand Slam, you can win one, lose one so it's weird how it works. Darts is darts and Barry (Hearn) loves his different tournaments so you've got to get on with them.'
