Smith rejuvenated after week off with fresh mindset: "I've been taking things for granted since winning the last week of the Premier League"

Michael Smith returned to the Netherlands rejuvenated after a week off which saw him miss the German Darts Open but smash in a 107 average to see off Peter Wright 6-4 at the World Series of Darts Finals and he spoke about pleasant times in the country.

"I think I've only had one bad time here, the rest has been pleasant. The only bad time I can remember is when I played in the Premier League against Michael (van Gerwen). You're going to get stick, you're playing a Dutch guy here. But such good fans out there, they give me the best of respect. Hopefully they enjoyed the good game that me and Peter put on today," said Smith to Darts Actueel.

As well as speaking about having a fresh mindset after taking darts for granted since having mid season success. "It was a close game but I needed that week off. I needed to go back to basics and my own game, I know I've been lazy with practicing over the last eight weeks. I've been taking things for granted since winning the last week of the Premier League and going to Zwolle and winning the Dutch Darts Masters. I think I must have practiced nine times in eight weeks. I might have next week off to prepare for the World Grand Prix as it seemed to work tonight."

"After this you've got a TV tournament nearly every week so you want to be on a good stead. The 101 flew in so I knew missing last week I didn't miss too much match practice. Just focusing on what I want now which is a major."
