Alan Soutar has been one of the standouts on his opening year of his PDC Tour Card and now heads into his first World Darts Championship looking to cement his ambitions.
Soutar took part in the PDC's Introducing series and discussed how he got into darts.
"My grandparents owned a pub in Scotland where I'm from in Arbroath so from very early age, probably six or seven years old. I've been playing darts my whole life," said Soutar.
He also spoke about juggling work and darts and when that gets to a point where he can't do both anymore.
"Playing in the PDC is the golden ticket as they call it. It pretty much is, maybe in a year's time we can sit down and assess after two years on the tour and see where we are but at the moment, I still need to work and play darts."
Achievements and ambitions
He also spoke about achievements so far which included a brilliant start to the year.
"I've done well in the first few ProTours, I beat quite a lot of World Champions. I've beat Barney a couple of times, I've beat Peter Wright. Those wins gives you confidence that you're good enough to be in the room."
As well as what is next with Ally Pally and the top 32 in his sights.
"To do well in that (PDC World Darts Championship) and as we move forward top 32 in the world. You have to set your target high and hopefully try to push on into the top 32."
