Saturday night, the first pool matches in Groups A-C-E-G were played at the Grand Slam of Darts. On Sunday, the players who won their first match will play each other; the two losers will also face each other.
Surely the most surprising frontrunner is Stowe Buntz, who currently holds the reins in Group E. The American showman surprisingly managed to win 5-1 over Peter Wright on Saturday night. Behind him is Stephen Bunting in second place, after 'The Bullet' was too strong against Dave Chisnall.

Michael van Gerwen is the proud leader is Group G after the resounding 5-1 victory over Fallon Sherrock. He will take on Rob Cross on Sunday night, who was victorious 5-4 against Martijn Kleermaker.
Dirk van Duijvenbode must be in pursuit in Group C. He lost his first match against Gary Anderson (5-4) and will thus have to win against Steve Lennon. The Irishman went down against Luke Humphries (5-2). Humphries and Anderson will decide in a mutual duel who will probably reach the last sixteen.
In Group A, the list is led by defending champion Michael Smith. He beat Nathan Girvan 5-2 in his first match. Krzysztof Ratajski won the other game in this group by beating James Wade 5-4.
