Superior Van den Bergh defeats Van Barneveld; Bunting and Gurney also to last 32

Dimitri van den Bergh defeated five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld on Friday evening to move into the second round at the Dutch Darts Championship.

The Belgian had an excellent day in Leeuwarden and recorded an average of 105.62 against 'Barney'. Van den Bergh broke Van Barneveld in the third leg with an 11-darter and made it 5-2 after 'Barney' missed two chances in the seventh leg. The Dutchman then made it 5-3 via double 8, but Van den Bergh then finished it off with a superb 12-darter.

Stephen Bunting recorded a convincing 6-0 victory over Adam Smith-Neale for a place in the last 32. Daryl Gurney triumphed 6-2 against Ricardo Pietreczko.
