For
Peter Wright, the
Premier League Darts 2024 ended as it had been throughout, in total disappointment. 'Snakebite' failed to impress on the last night of play, losing 6-5 to Luke Littler in the quarterfinals and finishing rock bottom of the table.
Wright is known to change his darts regularly, but this year, if by his standards things got a little out of hand during the Premier League Darts campaign. Darts commentator
Jacques Nieuwlaat calculated on
Viaplay that he has used no less than ten different sets of darts in the sixteen night's of play during this year's edition of the Premier League Darts.
"In addition, he used four different shafts and two different flights," Nieuwlaat explains on Viaplay. "Not to mention the tip of his arrow, because he used no less than eight different ones of those as well. It took me a while to look this all up, which was quite a monk's work (laughs)."
As mentioned however, all this chopping and changing did not bring Wright much success. Indeed, the former Premier League Darts finalist managed to win only three matches in the entire competition this year as he slumped to the wooden spoon, cast adrift at the bottom of the league table.
"Changing equipment so much is not normal anymore," fellow darter
Gian van Veen could not suppress his disbelief upon hearing Nieuwlaat's explanation. "That he has nevertheless been competing at the top for so many years is quite bizarre. I myself have played with barely two different arrows this year."
