"That 17 week roadshow needs him in" - Mark Webster has no doubts about Luke Littler and Premier League involvement

Luke Littler narrowly missed out on winning the World Darts Championship for the first time on Wednesday night. The 16-year-old Englishman went down 7-4 against Luke Humphries in an epic final.

The PDC will announce the participants for the Premier League Darts today. "I think he has to be in," says Mark Webster, himself a former participant and BDO world champion in 2008, in conversation with Online Darts. "You've seen the viewing figures and the attention he brings. That 17 week roadshow needs him in so I expect him to be there."

But who should make room for Littler? "I probably think Chris Dobey maybe," Webster answers. "The eighth spot was a huge debate and no one had a clue so Luke has put himself in prime position and he deserves it."

For some players, the Premier League Darts may have come too early in their careers. "He's ready. You can't play like that and not be ready. Some players have gone on a purple patch, myself included. I wasn't ready but you take it. This guy is ready."
