The standard in the world of darts is getting bigger, and that also means more players are getting and even taking the chance to win a PDC ranking tournament.
Almost the entire top-32 players in the world have now won one or more PDC ranking titles. In this article you will find the five highest-ranked players on the world rankings who have not yet managed to claim a PDC ranking tournament in their respective careers.
The German number one Clemens has made consistent progress since joining the PDC in 2018, reaching the semifinals of the World Darts Championship in January.
Clemens made his entry into the top-20 of the world rankings, ranking above such major winners as Gary Anderson and Andrew Gilding, for example.
'The German Giant,' however, has yet to win a PDC title. He stood in a ranking final seven times, but lost them all. His last final was earlier this year, when he lost 8-1 to Kim Huybrechts in the final of Players Championship 3.
Clemens' compatriot Martin Schindler also still has an empty trophy case at the highest level at the PDC. The Wall has reached fewer finals than his compatriot.
Schindler captured his PDC Tour Card for the second time in January 2021 and has been going strong ever since. In March 2022, he reached his first and, for now, only ranking final, which he lost 8-4 to Michael van Gerwen.
3. Alan Soutar (#33)
Soutar had a dream start on the professional circuit. He won his Tour Card at the first attempt in January 2021 and beat Dutch legend Raymond van Barneveld in his televised debut at the UK Open.
The popular Scot - a fireman by profession - has impressed on the big stage. He twice reached the last 16 at the World Championship and last year reached the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts. Soutar still has a lot of work to do in the coming months to qualify for the majors this year.
4. Madars Razma (#35)
Razma has been a fixture on the big stage since joining the PDC in 2017. He has steadily climbed up the rankings and is close to a spot in the world's top 32.
The Latvian darter reached another career milestone last October by defeating Ryan Searle and Daryl Gurney at the World Grand Prix to secure a spot in his first quarterfinal at a major at the PDC.
Razma was already in his first Players Championship final in 2018, but then had to acknowledge his superiority to Max Hopp. His second final followed in 2020, but then Peter Wright was too strong. Also in 2022, Razma was one win away from a title, but then Gerwyn Price kept him from the final victory.
Martin Lukeman had his breakthrough year in 2022 with a Euro Tour final at the German Darts Grand Prix and reaching the last eight at the World Grand Prix.
The Watford-based darter decided to take up the sport professionally after playing online tournaments during the 2020 coronalockdown. Since then, he has advanced to a current 38th place in the world rankings.
