THROWBACK VIDEO: Van Gerwen throws highest all-time TV average during Premier League in Aberdeen

The final night of play in the 2023 Premier League Darts will be played in Aberdeen on Thursday night. For Michael van Gerwen, that marks a return to the place where he managed to throw a world record in 2016.

At the time, the three-time world champion threw an average of 123.4 in his match against Michael Smith. To this day, that average still stands as the highest TV average ever.

Thanks to two 10-darters, two 11-darters, and two 12-darters, Van Gerwen rushed into a 6-0 lead in record time. His average at the time was 136.64.

He got three match darts in the seventh leg but missed all three. This caused his average to drop below 130. Smith took the leg with a 116 finish to spare his blushes. Van Gerwen ended the match with a 16-darter, which led to his average reaching 123.40.
