WDDA World Matchplay in Blackpool this week.
The World Disability Darts Association, for the second year in a row, had the finals of their World Matchplay events played in Blackpool as a run-up to the World Matchplay. This year, four players from each category were invited to play in the iconic Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens. On three consecutive matchdays, one of the categories within the WDDA played a tournament consisting of two semifinals and a final.
On the first day, Vicky Martin won the women's tournament. She defeated Avril Patrick 2-0 in the final. On Tuesday, the compris division final was played by Gareth Smith and Rab Sutherland. Smith managed to win the final by throwing out a 140-finish in the deciding leg. On the last day of the WDDA World Matchplay, the classic-division tournament was played. Garry Bennett threw an average of 107.36 in his semi-final and then won in the final from Robert Sutherland Jnr with a result of 2-0.
