Regions in Tier 1 in the United Kingdom are where the infections are at their lowest also known as medium with risk still there but it will be like when the country first started to remove Lockdown restrictions.
This includes the rule of six, pubs and restaurants shutting at 11pm but with the added caveat of spectators being allowed at live events. This is the same with tier two but no household mixing is allowed.
But with Tier 3 being the only one which will not allowed live events, the announcement that London will be in Tier 2 gives the hope for the showpiece event to have fans.
In order to get fans admitted to the tournament, the PDC and Alexandra Palace are currently working in collaboration to set up a plan for safety rules.
Fans must still social distance and comply but compared to other sports, darts has experience of running these events already with events in Austria and Germany potentially providing a roadmap in terms of fans attending.
