Van Barneveld hands in PDC Tour Card and retires definitively

Raymond van Barneveld will definitely not return to the PDC circuit next season. The 52-year-old from The Hague is handing in his PDC Tour Card, according to Barney's manager Jaco van Bodegom.

Handing in his Tour Card is the definitive step to life as a former professional player. For this, Van Barneveld must sign and send a letter to the PDC stating that he is returning his PDC membership. That means that Barney will be removed from the rankings in January.

Without a Tour Card, the five-time world champion will no longer have access to the lucrative Pro Tour circuit. So Darin Young enters the history books as the last player to beat Barney in an official match.

The American beat Van Barneveld in the first round of the World Darts Championship. Young then lost to the Dutchman's protégé Jeffrey de Zwaan in the second round.
