Van Barneveld takes advantage of withdrawals and competes at European Tour in Riesa this weekend

Raymond van Barneveld had originally not qualified for the International Darts Open (31 March - 2 April), but will compete in the European Tour tournament in Riesa this weekend.

The Dutchman was number three on the reserve list for the International Darts Open. Jim Williams and Scott Williams were still above Van Barneveld on the reserve list. It can be assumed that they will also participate in Riesa. However, it is not known which players have pulled out.

Van Barneveld also competed in the European Tour tournaments in Kiel and Leverkusen in recent weeks, so this weekend he will make his third appearance at a European Tour tournament in 2023. That's already as many as in the whole of 2022. Van Barneveld is now competing in seven of the first eight European Tour tournaments of the season. Five more qualifying tournaments will be played later this year, so 'Barney' can still boost that number.
