Jurjen van der Velde has won a tournament on the PDC
Development Tour for the second time in his career on Friday evening. After a Dutch final, he beat Geert Nentjes 5-1.
On his way to the final Van der Velde beat the likes of Nathan Girvan (4-3) and Justin van Tergouw. Nentjes' run to the final included victories over Rusty-Jake Rodriguez (5-3) and Nathan Rafferty (5-4).
The Development Tour is the youth circuit of the PDC. This tour is open for players aged 16 to 23. Players who turn 24 during the season are allowed to continue competing.
In 2022, the PDC Development Tour circuit consists of 24 tournaments. Last year, due to COVID-19, there was a separate tour for British and European players, but this year both circuits have been merged again.
Each Development Tour tournament has a prize pool of £10,000. With the prize money a ranking is made. At the end of the season the numbers one and two receive an invitation to the PDC World Championship, plus a Tour Card for 2023 and 2024.
