Van Duijvenbode after seeing off Wright in deciding leg victory: 'I'm never happy with what I do'

Dirk van Duijvenbode is through his first game at the Grand Slam of Darts picking up another scalp against the World Champion, Peter Wright.

Van Duijvenbode stumbled across the line and admitted that he wasn't nervous despite a tense end to the tie and discussed his mindset and if he gains confidence from performances like that.

"I had no nerves at all going into the game. At some points I felt a little bit of it and I think my darts were going a little bit different than they're used to. I think I won because Peter (Wright) didn't step in like he normally does," said Van Duijvenbode post match.

"I wasn't nervous at all going for those three darts at double 20 but my conscience was because they're still looking for my darts, they were so far off," he joked.

"I don't know if I get confidence out of it. I'm always kind of insecure, I always put high pressure on myself. I always put pressure on myself to play well. I don't gain confidence out of playing well but that makes me dangerous because I'm never happy with what I do."
