A lot has changed for Dirk van Duijvenbode in the past year. Due to his excellent performances and often legendary interviews, he has suddenly become a famous Dutchman.
"The first weeks after the World Championship, it was very busy with a lot of media attention. That has now decreased, but on the street I am regularly approached, someone recently asked me on the market to sign a bag of chicken. ", said Van Duijvenbode at De Telegraaf .
The 28-year-old Dutchman still combines work and darts. "I have been working in an aubergine farm for almost half my life, you don't just give up on that. Moreover, I see little added value in becoming a professional, especially now that there are fewer tournaments due to the pandemic."
Goal: top 16
Van Duijvenbode wants to work his way up the Order of Merit this year. "My goal is mainly to qualify for all the major tournaments. I also want to become more of an established name in the floor tournaments and then hopefully climb to the top 16 in the world rankings by the end of the year."
