Van Duijvenbode regrets remarkable interview on Dutch TV: 'I had a blackout'

Dirk van Duijvenbode produced a shock at the World Darts Championship on Tuesday by eliminating former world champion Rob Cross.

What followed was a remarkable interview with RTL reporter Arjan van der Giessen. "With my darts," Van Duijvenbode replied casually to a serious question from Van der Giessen, who asked how Aubergenius had completed the feat.

Looking back on that interview, Van Duijvenbode is ashamed of his answers. "No, I haven't looked back and I'm not going to. I have had many reactions to it. I think I had some kind of blackout. I was not too happy to be there. I am fed up with it. Of course I prefer to give a good interview, '' the World Grand Prix finalist tells AD.nl.

On Monday afternoon, the Dutchman faces Adam Hunt in the third round of the World Championship. Van Duijvenbode realises that he is now seen as the favourite in this match. "I know that, but he is not here for nothing."
