Van Gerwen after first round Denmark demolition at World Cup of Darts: "I think it was a good performance"

Michael van Gerwen is teaming with Dirk van Duijvenbode this year during the World Cup of Darts with another fresh duo for the country and they started with a demolition win over Denmark 5-1.

Van Gerwen spoke after and discussed overcoming losing the first leg and how he is pleased with their opening outing in Jena.

"At the beginning, I think it was a bit uncomfortable for both of us but I think after that when we got a bit more confidence and we know where we were standing, we started to play a bit better," said Van Gerwen to Sky Sports.

"You always want to do better, but overall I think it was a good performance for the first round."
