Van Gerwen disappointed after another Ross Smith defeat: "I just couldn't find my rhythm"

Michael van Gerwen failed to capture his first Euro Tour title of the season last weekend in Austria. He lost 6-1 to Ross Smith in the quarterfinals of the Austrian Darts Open.

It is already the second time in a short span that Smith has thwarted the Dutchman. 'Smudger' just a week earlier won 7-6 over Van Gerwen in the semifinals of the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen.

Whereas at the time Van Gerwen still missed three match darts, this time 'Mighty Mike' did not come close to a victory. ''Another tough loss in the quarter final in Graz today. Ross Smith played well, and I just couldn't find my rhythm," said Van Gerwen on X.
"Disappointed with the result, but onto the next one!" concluded MVG.
