Van Gerwen gives credit to De Sousa after European Darts Grand Prix Final defeat: "He played a phenomenal game"

Michael van Gerwen spoke after his European Darts Grand Prix Final defeat and said that Jose de Sousa played 'phenomenal' after the Portuguese ace's first European Tour title win.

A 33rd didn't come in for Mighty Mike who was outclassed by De Sousa with an almost 106 average. Van Gerwen averaged 92 which was around his mark all weekend with victories over Vincent van der Voort, Nathan Aspinall and Mensur Suljovic on the final day.

"I never like losing especially in finals. But credit to Jose, he played a phenomenal game," said Van Gerwen on Twitter.

I did some good thing this weekend and some not so but heading the right way. looking forward to next weekend
