Michael van Gerwen faced off against
Peter Wright in the highly anticipated clash of Night Two of the 2021
Premier League Darts.
It was a poor quality display from both but Van Gerwen came out on top with a 7-2 win and he was of course disappointed with his display despite the win.
"I didn't really perform well to be fair but I did enough to win the game. I can only learn from this because I put myself too much under pressure. I want to win to make sure I was catching the other boys and I was making it a bit difficult," said Van Gerwen post match.
He also gave his honest assessment on Wright's game saying that if he is to make the comments he has made recently he has to back it up.
"We all know Peter, we all know what he's doing and he's always the same. He says things maybe he shouldn't say because he's better off concentrating on his own game."
"Peter played crap to be fair. When someone does that against you, you need to make sure you take advantage and don't make the same mistakes he does. A wins always nice especially against Peter Wright."
"Everyone knows when I play my game, he's no game for me and they all know that."
"I don't really care what Peter Wright says. He needs to make sure whatever he says, he's also gonna do it. I can have a big mouth now but with a 92 average, you need to shut your mouth and get back to the practice board."
