Michael van Gerwen won the
Premier League Darts for the seventh time in his career last Thursday. On the final night in London, he defeated Michael Smith (10-8) and Gerwyn Price (11-5).
The 34-year-old Dutchman is now the only record holder in terms of Premier League Darts titles. Darts legend Phil Taylor was first on par with Van Gerwen with six titles.
However, improving that record does little for Van Gerwen. ''It really doesn't interest me, not yet maybe. It's nice, but next year I'll probably have eight,'' Van Gerwen laughed.
''Records are there to be broken. People always make a thing of it and that always annoys me a bit. What's the point? You only bring extra pressure to yourself if you get involved in that. So that has no added value.''
