Another week, another tie with Michael van Gerwen for Peter Wright in this year's Premier League Darts and working on the tournament for Sky Sports, Mark Webster sees first hand the woes of 'Snakebite' this season who sits bottom with one win.
Webster spoke to Online Darts at a recent exhibition and said that sometimes it can be a hindrance to play the tournament when there are issues with his game.
"The lads were saying he's not really enjoying it which is normal, when you're not winning, it becomes a chore. These spells happen and unfortunately it's happened in the Premier League for Peter Wright. He's strong minded, he'll be fine. Maybe the Premier League he could do without at the minute," said Webster to Online Darts.
"He'll keep trying and he probably won't make the top four but he can spoil someone's chances and that'll be his motivation. Still a lot to play for, there's a lot of £10,000 to play for. He probably won't make the top four but it doesn't seem to be happening for him."
Picking and choosing tournaments a lot more and with issues off the oche, Webster believes it has just all mounted up.
"That's a distraction, so the preparation is not ideal for him. He could probably do without the busy schedule. He's just got to plough on. Managing the schedule is hard, Gerwyn, Dimi and Dobey have got to play qualifiers but it is all part of it."
He was also quizzed on the World Cup of Darts and joked that he wouldn't get his spare session off punditry and commentary but was pleased that the PDC listened this time.
"I like the singles element but I think the doubles should've been the priority. It shows the PDC are willing to adapt, they listen. It allows more nations in so it can only be a good thing. An extra session so more tickets, I don't get my afternoon off but never mind. It can only be a good thing. It's something to get excited about."
