Peter Wright put on a real show for the Blackpool crowd as he completed the Quarter-Final line-up at the World Matchplay and showed that he is a force to be reckoned with.
Wright smashed Simon Whitlock in an 11-2 win including a 103 average, seven 180's and to cap it all off a 170 checkout. It was 50 percent on the doubles for 'Snakebite' as he capped off an all-round world class performance.
To start the game, Wright had a brilliant start showing his form as of late going 5-0 up with no reply averaging 109 at the time with three 180's and 50 percent on the doubles.
This included a brilliant 170 outshot which as Wayne Mardle called he couldn't see any other outcome barring 'Snakebite' hitting it.
Whitlock finally got off the mark at 5-1 down but Wright was soon back to add more legs to his column holding throw and keeping his average in the early 100's with 55 percent on the doubles increasing that statistic.
By the second interval he was 9-1 up and seemingly cruising to an easy win as he put on a show for the Blackpool crowd with his average at 104.7. Wright was showing he is a true force to be reckoned with in this tournament.
Whitlock hit a shanghai finish to potentially put himself back into the match but it was too little too late as Wright added the finishing touches and claimed the win.
