Wayne Warren is through to a bumper tie with Cameron Menzies on Thursday evening at the 2022 WDF
Lakeside World Championship.
Warren came from two sets down to deny Lee Shewan in a match where he was announced as the reigning World Champion.
"I was practicing in the back room and as soon as they mention that on my life, I can't explain it. My legs were going, it's a pleasure and not many get to be called World Champion but it's taken me two years to defend it. To be called up as World Champion, it's a massive feeling,"
"It's great to be back and playing big time darts with the WDF because they're fantastic."
He spoke about his thought process during the tie as Shewan went towards the verge of victory.
"I thought early bath for me but you've got to dig in. I think the stage experience perhaps come out to me, I kicked in, it was good. If I'd have lost, I hold my hands up but I dug deep. To win showed a lot of guts."
Shoulder injury
He also spoke about his shoulder injury and what he will need to do to go far in Frimley Green.
"I've had a bad shoulder the past six months, it's way better. It puts my head straight, I've got Cameron next game, I think I can go a long way in this, I'm not here to make the numbers up."
"My scoring game is there, I need to finish a bit sharper."
