Jim Long has qualified for the quarterfinals of the World Seniors Darts Championship. The 55-year-old Canadian was a comfortable 3-0 winner over Martin Adams in the second round.
"I woke up nervous this morning, knowing that I was playing Martin and that doesn't happen often," Long revealed in his post-match interview. "I was so excited to get a chance to play a legend like him and yeah, my adrenaline has been flowing for hours. I feel great!"
Thanks in part to his regular appearances on the Modus Super Series, Long is arguably in the form of his life at the moment. "I'm getting way more opportunities to play amazing players," he explains. "It's a great opportunity to push myself that I didn't ever think I would get, so it's fantastic."
Long success is also another sign of the great place that North American darts is in currently. "In the past we've had Larry Butler winning the Matchplay and John Part a three-time world champion so I'm not sure if it's at it's best ever, but there's so many more opportunities now that it just seems that way."
Long will take on Paul Hogan in the quarterfinals, who was 3-0 too strong for former BDO world champion Neil Duff in the second round.
