Dennis Harbour achieved one of the finest results of his career last weekend by beating the great
Phil Taylor. The two Englishmen met in the quarter-finals of the
World Seniors Darts Masters.
Taylor took a 2-1 lead in that match in sets, but it was Harbour who then went on to win 4-2. And that caused quite a stir for the 61-year-old amateur dart player.
"I just can't believe it, I have just beaten my idol," Harbour said emotionally afterwards in conversation with interviewer Helen Chamberlain. "I've followed Phil for years. I'm so pleased."
Harbour had also beaten Martin Adams earlier in the tournament. In the last four, however, he lost 5-2 to Richie Howson. The latter in turn went down 6-2 to Leonard Gates in the final of the World Seniors Darts Masters.
