Big news came out last month that it was moving to the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, one of the most iconic venues in World darts. Despite that though, the format was also adjusted. Players who are seeded used to already get through to the stage rounds but now they must start from scratch meaning shocks aplenty could be on the cards.
Multiple players from the top 16 of the seedings have not registered for the event seemingly due to this reason according to Live Darts. It has also been revealed that multiple players have signed a petition calling on the BDO to scrap the seedings with complex scheduling of the tournament also a factor.
This is due to it starting at Grays Civic Hall then it going over to the Circus Tavern instead of being like before in venues such as Bridlington where it was all done at once including the World Championship qualifiers.
The BDO rankings ahead of the tournament see Wesley Harms at the top with Jim Williams and Richard Veenstra next up.
