Michael van Gerwen is through to Round 3 and is still on course for another World Championship title. He defeats 'Lethal Biscuit' James Wilson 4-0 in a game where he just couldn't match the power of 'Mighty Mike' with the Dutchman sending out a message to the chasing pack with an average of 108
He started set 1 with a 142 checkout before Wilson missed D16 for a 132 checkout which allowed MVG to pounce and grab another leg. He won the set averaging 112 to Wilson's 103. He started set 2 as well as set one including an 11 darter and then won the set with a 112 average with Wilson not able to do anything.
He continued hitting a 164 checkout in the first leg of the third set before winning the set to extend his lead to 3-0 with his record up to played 9, won 9 leg wise affording Wilson only 2 darts at a double. He then closed out the game winning all of the legs in the match not allowing Wilson any legs in a 4-0 victory.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
