Perfect legs have been recorded more in February than ever before. Peter Jacques nailed the nine-dart finish first, doing so on the
PDC Challenge Tour. Since then, eight nine-darters have been recorded in Players Championship events. A further two were struck in qualifiers for European Tour events.
10 different players have achieved perfection in the opening events of the year. Michael van Gerwen, unsurprisingly,
has two of his own. His first was at Players Championship 2 - three other players joined him on the same day. Geert Nentjes, Dave Chisnall and Chris Dobey all achieved the nine.
Van Gerwen struck again at Players Championship 3, Danny Noppert and Scott Baker managed it at Players Championship 5, and Ritchie Edhouse joined the list at Players Championship 6. Edhouse took a different route, with two 174s followed by a 153 finish.
Ted Evetts threw a nine-darter at the first European Tour qualifier, with Ricky Evans matching him in the second.
Unless a nine-dart leg is achieved in the Premier League on Thursday, the tally for February will stay at 11. There is a very real chance that 2018's record of 28 nine-darters could be beaten, with ten months of the season remaining.
