An average of 105 was the key in a typical Van Gerwen performance. MVG is unseeded for a
PDC tournament for the first time in a number of years but if he can get past Peter Wright or Kyle Anderson he could have a very good chance of winning his first title in Auckland.
Anderson’s real highlight came with a 170 checkout but barring that a slow start was punished.
Six 180’s and 50% on the doubles capped off the win for Mighty Mike as he has sent out another statement to the field.
