Van Gerwen comes from behind to win European Darts Open in Leverkusen

Michael van Gerwen has done it again! He has won the first European Tour of the year in Leverkusen to assert his dominance in world darts and in typical fashion for 'Mighty Mike' he came from behind to claim the title in the first final to go to the best of 15 legs.

It was fitting that it went all 15 legs as it was a tense final between the pair but Van Gerwen turned on the turbo and fought back from 5-1 down to force the last leg decider and win with Wright potentially needing to hit a 9-darter in that final leg to beat the World Number One.
A 102 average with 9 180's sealed the title but his doubles were poor with 8/28 doubles hit throughout the game. It was still enough to beat Wright who despite losing from 5-1 up will be pleased to be back in form after a horrendous last month or so.
