Michael van Gerwen booked a convincing victory to reach the third round of the European Darts Matchplay. The two-time world champion hit a nine-dart finish to beat Ryan Joyce 6-2.
The 29-year-old Dutchman completed perfection in the fourth leg of the game to take a 3-1 lead. Joyce was able to win one more leg, before Van Gerwen took the win in the eighth leg.
Ian White overcame Max Hopp earlier on the evening. Mensur Suljovic celebrated a 6-3 victory over Boris Koltsov, while Andy Boulton defeated Steve Beaton.
