In the modern day, almost every single darts event sees a number of fans in the crowd wearing bald caps and green tops, attempting to mimic one of the sport's leading attractions,
Michael van Gerwen. As it turns out though, for some, a bald cap and green shirt aren't needed to draw comparisons to the mighty Dutchman.
One such instance came at a recent lower league football match in the EFL between Morecambe and Chesterfield. Although the action on the pitch was quite thrilling with 'The Spireites' taking a 5-2 away win, a certain section of the supporters in attendance still had time to get involved with some light hearted banter with a bald steward.
As the crowd ruthlessly chanted "ohh Michael van Gerwen" to the tune of the White Stripes classic, 'Seven Nation Army' at the steward in question, he seemed to see the funny side, embracing the banter with a beaming smile and even singing along himself.
In our opinion, the steward looks a little more like Mervyn King or Martin Lukeman than 'MVG', but see the video for yourself down below and make up your own mind!
By the way, Van Gerwen will be back in action at the Grand Slam of Darts this coming weekend, kicking off his tournament with an opening group stage game and the history making Noa-Lynn van Leuven in Wolverhampton.
