"As long as I can, I'll be doing this job" says axed walk-on girl Charlotte Wood

Charlotte Wood has again questioned the PDC's decision to remove walk-on girls from televised events.

Wood and fellow walk-on girl Daniella Allfree have regularly spoken out against their 'ban' from darts. The pair have received strong backing from darts fans. Wood has also been supporting by the boxing world. When promoters added to their roster of ring girls, the 29-year-old from Loughborough was among them. Wood featured during the recent bout between George Groves and Chris Eubank Jnr.
"What has happened has made other people book us. The boxing promoters increased their ring girls from four to six in protest and I did the fight the other week," she said.
"So it hasn't affected us as much as it could have. It's made us think that even though people tried to take this job away from us, it's not going to stop us doing what we want to do.
"As long as I can, I'll be doing this job."
Fans of the walk-on girls have taken to social media to register their dismay at the PDC's decision. Thousands have signed a petition supporting their return. It has been shared by a number of professional players. And Wood, who holds out hopes of returning to darts, recognised their support.
"The fans are really angry and miss seeing us at the darts - they want us to get our jobs back. And the PDC still has dancers at their events who dress far more skimpily than we did," Wood added.
"Every day we've had messages of support on Twitter and not just from men - a lot of women are really behind us.
"They are properly on our side. Our jobs have been taken away so how is that empowering women?"
